Shoe Review: Nike Air Zoom Streak XC 2

October 19, 2009

NIKE_STREAK_XC2The Nike Air Zoom Streak XC 2 are the newest addition to my racing flat collection. These flats are very light weighing only 5.4 ounces. The upper is made of a lightweight shear see-through mesh and the tongue almost feels like paper. The insole is flat like a track flat. So you can’t slip in a pair of SuperFeet. The sole has knobbies which are intended for little extra grip and also provide some extra cushioning. The Nike Air Zoom Streak XC 2 toebox is narrow. I would recommend trying on a pair a half size larger than normal. The XC 2’s ride great for such a lightweight shoe. I can’t wait to use them in a race.

If you are wondering how far you can go on a pair of Nike Air Zoom Streak XC 2 , Dathan Ritzenhein placed third at the 18th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, in Birmingham, UK with them.

Garmin Forerunner 305

August 10, 2009

Garmin Forerunner 305This week I had purchased a Garmin Forerunner 305. It’s probably the coolest thing I have ever bought. So far I have used it for two track workouts, a mid-week long run around the tip of Manhattan, a long run in Prospect Park and a long run in Central Park. I was surprised how accurate the GPS is determining the distance. Although the distance is too long by .05 mile running on the track. The heart rate monitor works excellent. I like the fact you can configure the display to show the data you require. The best thing about the Garmin Forerunner 305 is the quality of it’s construction. Absolutely solid. The Garmin Forerunner 305 is highly recommended.

eBay Score: Saucony Grid Fastwitch 2

August 1, 2009

eBay Score: Saucony Grid Fastwitch 2Recently I had scored a pair of Saucony Grid Fastwitch 2 racing flats on eBay for $26 + $9.99 shipping. Not bad at all. I took them to the East River Track for a training session this week. They feel great. The Saucony Grid Fastwitch 2 are best on hard surfaces like asphalt. The shoes have an amazing response when the shoe strikes the ground and then release. I can’t wait to run a race with them.
